Siteseeing in Surrounding Areas (March)

Some more siteseeing photos...

Beach BBQ
The Listers invited us for a BBQ on the beach on the other side of the Broadwater. We all ran out to get way to much food and met for an afternoon in the sun and sand.
We also enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Unfortunatley once the sun dipped down the sandflies came out and Trev and I ended up with over 100 bites each that were itchy for weeks!

Lonepine Koala Sanctuary
It was our first day off together since we had started working and we were on our way out to Australia Zoo. We got about half way (an hour into our drive we reached Brisbane) and realized that we had forgotten our passes to the Zoo that Dave and Viv had bought us for Xmas.
Plan B became Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane. We found the Sanctuary to be a wonderful place full of a variety of animals. It felt more personal than the typical zoo with zookeepers that were truly passionate about there animals.

Byron Bay
Since arriving in Australia everyone has been telling us we need to visit Byron Bay. It's a small hippy town just over an hour away that is full of all kinds of little shops, eaterys, hiking and beautiful views. The bay is also full of dolphins and turtles.
We decided to do the hike up to the lighthouse and than spend some time on the beach.
Just minutes into the hike we saw my favorite bird. A Kookaburra!
